After the devastating defeat at the Battle of Pea Ridge in March and the shameful departure by Major General Earl Van Dorn back across the Mississippi, Arkansas has been left in a state of anarchy. With no coherent Confederate force to assert authority from Richmond and the Federals on the verge of invading deeper into the state, Gen. P. G.T. Beauregard is forced to send his best man to hopefully save Arkansas from collapsing. Thus, the Creole sends who he deems the best for the job, Major General Thomas C Hindman Jr, to bring Confederate fortunes back from the dead. In just over three months, Hindman will build an army from thin air, reconstruct the industrial base in the poorest region in the Confederacy, and establish a logistical base to supply his forces in whatever direction he wants to march. All in time for a renewal of Federal activity focusing on driving deeper into Confederate-held Arkansas as summer turns into fall…
