After the fall of Corinth to Halleck's gigantic at the end of May 1862, many Confederates dream of retaking the vital rail junction in Northern Mississippi. However, with the Federal forces under Ulysses S Grant and William Rosecrans anchoring their new defensive line on the town, it will prove to be a tough nut to crack. Once summer turns into fall and Don Carlos Buell moves his army east to capture Chattanooga, Van Dorn, the new Confederate commander in Mississippi sees an opportunity to retake Corinth. After seeing Price fail to stop Rosecrans at Iuka from sending reinforcements to Buell in Kentucky. Van Dorn devises a plan to swing around and take Corinth from the rear. With the federal forces scattered around the junction and unprepared to meet a major Confederate offensive, Van Dorn hopes to quickly rush in and take the undefended rail junction. Only time will tell once again if his audacious plan will work...
