Before he became George Bailey in It’s a Wonderful Life, Jimmy Stewart was a Hollywood star who stepped away from his successful acting career to serve his country during World War II.

In this special episode of On the Victory Homefront, I’m joined by Jen Buckles, Executive Director of the Jimmy Stewart Museum, and Tim Vanderburg for a wonderful conversation about the man behind the Hollywood legend.

Together, we explore Jimmy’s life before the war, his determination to serve, his experiences as a military pilot flying combat missions over Europe, and his return to Hollywood following the war.

We also discuss the upcoming film JIMMY, opening November 6, and the Jimmy Stewart Museum’s special exhibit, The Making of JIMMY, on display through November 15, along with a look ahead at the museum’s It’s a Wonderful Life exhibit.

Join us as we discover another side of one of America’s most beloved actors and the remarkable wartime story behind his familiar face.
