In this episode of The Figures of the American Civil War Podcast, I’m joined by historian Chris Mackowski to discuss the life of Thomas Jonathan "Stonewall" Jackson, one of the most famous commanders of the American Civil War.
Born in Clarksburg in 1824, Jackson graduated from West Point Military Academy in 1846 and served in the Mexican–American War before becoming a professor at the Virginia Military Institute.
During the First Battle of Bull Run, he earned the nickname “Stonewall,” a name that would become legendary.
