Since the Battle of Antietam back in September, the Confederate and Federal armies have stared the other down for the last few months of 1862. However, after a change of command for the Federal army, a prompted Burnside decides to lead his men on a winter campaign that will bring him to the very doorstep of Fredericksburg. Failing to get the jump on the rebel army and with winter on his doorstep, Burnside is forced to take a desperate action as the end of 1862 comes ever nearer. Thus, on December 10, Burnside finally makes up his mind to cross right in the middle of the awaiting Confederates. The next day, December 11, 1862, the two giants who had been facing off along the Rappahannock will finally come to blows. Over the next four days, a river will be crossed, buildings will be destroyed, a hill will be fought over, and a stonewall will see thousands of men fall before it. Legends will be made, careers ruined, and the course of the war will be forever changed. This is the Battle of Fredericksburg.
