The war dramatically hurt the reputation of the United States. Today, the Vietnam War is seen as pointless. A big freaking mistake, based on lies, that led to millions of innocent people dying. It was a civil war that many say the United States had no business being a part of. Unlike the Korean War, the United Nations wanted nothing to do with it.
