The turning point of WW2 in the European Theater was the decisive battle in Normandy. Following Operation Overlord and the invasion of Normandy on the 6th June 1944, the Allies fought a bitter 77 day battle against a determined enemy. Following the collapse of Wehrmacht forces in the west they would retreat toward the Seine River. A desperate bid to escape the fury of the Allies.
