Venezuela’s Air Force, the Aviación Militar Bolivariana, is a complex regional force shaped by decades of shifting alliances, sanctions, and modernization. Formerly among the strongest in Latin America, it now relies on Russian-built Su-30MK2 "Flanker" fighters and a dense, mobile air defense network, including S-300 and Buk-M2 systems. While outmatched by a full-scale U.S. air campaign, Venezuela’s mix of advanced interceptors, precision munitions, and radar-guided missile systems could make any incursion costly and unpredictable, especially early in a conflict. Though diminished, it remains a significant deterrent in the Caribbean.
