Daz was joined by Kris White of the American Battlefield Trust to discuss the Second Battle of Fredericksburg & the Battle of Salem Church.
The Second Battle of Fredericksburg, also known as the Battle of Salem Church (May 3–4, 1863), unfolded as a dramatic chapter of the Chancellorsville Campaign.
After successfully seizing Marye's Heights, Union forces advanced westward, expecting to build on their momentum. Instead, they ran headlong into determined Confederate resistance near Salem Church. What followed was fierce and chaotic fighting, with the church itself transformed into a hospital and sanctuary for civilians caught in the crossfire. Despite their earlier success, Union troops were ultimately forced back—turning a promising advance into a hard-fought Confederate victory.
