The Battle of Franklin, fought on November 30, 1864, in Franklin, Tennessee, was a pivotal moment in the Franklin–Nashville Campaign. Coming just before the armies would meet again at Nashville, the engagement proved to be one of the most devastating defeats of the war for the Confederate Army.
