The Battle of Olustee (February 20, 1864) was the largest Civil War battle fought in Florida. A Union force advancing west from Jacksonville was defeated by Confederate troops under General Joseph Finegan near Lake City, halting Union efforts to control the region and secure supplies and recruits.
