Following Porter's running of the Vicksburg Batteries, Grant uses his available boats to cross the river and attack Vicksburg from the south. Alarmed by Grant's move, Pemberton abandons his extensive defenses facing north and pivots his men to face south. Yet, Grant does not incline to attack the annoying river bastion just yet. Instead, the Illinois General desires to cut Pemberton's supply line along the Mississippi Central Railroad. As the Federals march north, they defeat the Confederates in multiple battles. These defeats forced Confederate General Joseph E. Johnston to come in and help Pemberton beat Grant. Once Grant gets word of Johnston's arrival, he moves directly upon the state capital of Jackson and beats Johnston back. While Grant moves east, Pemberton desires to cut Grant's own supply line. However, Grant soon gets wind of this and pivots his forces back west to take on the rebels in the field. As the two forces march, they are bound to collide on the Plantation of Sid Champion, where the Battle for Vicksburg is set to be fought...
