For almost 5 weeks since the staggering Battle of Antietam, the two sides stared each other down as neither side moved. While Lee was rebuilding his strength, McClellan found every excuse not to move forward and attack the rebels. With the midterms and winter near, Lincoln tried his best to get his general to move, but to no avail. Finally, at the end of October, McClellan moved into Virginia but stopped once he reached Warrenton. Annoyed with all the stops, Lincoln's patience comes to an end, and he decides to replace his indolent general with a more vigorous one. After reviewing all the generals present, Lincoln taps Burnside to lead the Army of the Potomac, hoping he will be aggressive with the army as 1862 came to a close...
