The Vietnam War was the longest war in American history up to that point, only surpassed by the War in Afghanistan in 2021 lasting six months longer. The war dramatically hurt the reputation of the United States. Today, the Vietnam War is seen as pointless. A big freaking mistake, based on lies, that led to millions of innocent people dying. It was a civil war that many say the United States had no business being a part of. Unlike the Korean War, the United Nations wanted nothing to do with it.
